Simon Morgan, exresponsable de la seguridad de la monarquía, reveló la posible cifra a The New York Times.

Desde el fallecimiento de Isabel II ocurrido el pasado 8 de septiembre en el castillo escocés de Balmoral, mucho se especuló sobre su apoteósico funeral.

Si bien, nadie ha revelado cuánto se desembolsó en el funeral de la exmonarca, si se cree que es uno de los más caros de la historia. Y es que reinar más de setenta años tiene sus lujitos, incluso post mortem.

Según el New York Post, un exresponsable de la seguridad real, Simon Morgan, aseguró que solo el dispositivo de protección ascenderá a más de $7.5 millones de dólares.

“Es la operación policial más grande”

“La operación de un solo día más costosa en la historia del Reino Unido”, señaló. “Esta es la operación policial más grande que jamás haya emprendido la policía del Reino Unido”, agregó.

En esta misma línea, se refirió a otros eventos de envergadura similar: “El mayor fue la boda de los príncipes de Gales en 2011, no se puede comparar con esto”. En esa ocasión el costo del dispositivo de seguridad fue de $7.2 millones.

Algunos estimados dicen que el valor final del servicio fue de $10.1 millones. Según el The New York Times, el funeral de la Reina Madre en 2002 rozó los $6 millones.

Por otro lado, los gastos estimados para el funeral de la princesa Diana en 1997 fueron de $5.5 millones.
